Peter has passed the Second GBA Legal Professional Examination held on 11 June 2022. After completing the necessary training and assessments, he has successfully obtained his GBA practice licence in 2024.

Joseph has passed the inaugural GBA Legal Professional Examination held on 31 July 2021. After completing the necessary training and assessments, he has successfully obtained his GBA practice licence in 2022.

What is GBA Lawyer?

Following the decision adopted by the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress on 11 August 2020, the State Council issued on 22 October 2020, the pilot measures for Hong Kong and Macao legal practitioners to obtain Mainland practice qualifications and to practise as lawyers in the nine Mainland municipalities in the Greater Bay Area. Hong Kong solicitors and barristers who meet the relevant requirements are allowed to provide legal services in the nine Mainland municipalities in the Greater Bay Area on specified civil and commercial legal matters (including litigation and non-litigation matters) to which the Mainland laws apply upon passing the Greater Bay Area Legal Professional Examination (GBA Examination) and obtaining a lawyer’s licence (GBA).

How can a GBA Lawyer assist me?

A GBA lawyer is allowed to provide legal services in the specified Mainland municipalities in the Greater Bay Area on specified civil and commercial legal matters (including litigation and non-litigation matters) to which the Mainland laws apply.

Which are the Mainland municipalities that GBA Lawyer can provide legal services?

As of March 2023, the specified Mainland municipalities which GBA Lawyer can provide legal services are Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing in Guangdong Province.
